International Faculty Services (IFS) provides visa and other assistance to visiting scholars and faculty and helps PSU departments meet the legal requirements for hosting and/or employing visiting scholars and faculty. IFS advises international faculty and scholars (and their dependents) about regulations and procedures for maintaining legal status, travel, employment authorization, and other issues.

Among the international groups served by IFS are

  • visiting scholars requiring J-1 Exchange Visitor visas
  • tenure track and tenured faculty requiring H-1B work visas
  • faculty in other visa categories, such as O and TN
  • nonresident aliens at PSU in other visa categories, such as B1/B2
  • participants in the summer International Visiting Professor (IVP) Program
  • faculty sponsored by the University for permanent residence
