Students will develop an individual plan of study with advisers as a part of the IDS colloquium. All courses for the International Studies major must be taken for a letter grade of C or better.

Connected Learning : International Development (24 credits)

Third-year foreign language proficiency
Proficiency may be demonstrated through coursework or testing. A dual-region focus must be adviser approved, and the foreign language must be appropriate to one of the two regions and be accompanied by at least 8 upper-division credits in related region-specific courses. (See Regional Focus requirement below.)

INTL 499 Senior International Development Experience
There are ongoing opportunities to participate in University Studies Capstones and Seminars with a development focus in countries such as Ghana, India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Suriname, and local opportunities within the Portland community working with the immigrant population. ("International" Capstones satisfy both IDS and University Studies requirements.)
